The Sponsorships Director is responsible for the development and implementation of sponsorship campaigns to further Chapter strategic objectives. The Director is responsible for promoting the chapter and its activities to members, organizations, and the community at large.

Moreover, the Director is responsible to the Officers, Directors and members to develop and execute a Board approved Sponsorship Strategic Plan. The content of the plan is to be consistent and in accordance with the strategic objectives of the Chapter and will be accomplished with the guidance of the PMI-VI Board of Directors and Executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a sponsorship plan in support of the chapter strategic objectives
  • Develop and implement sponsorship campaigns to promote the chapter and its activities to members, organizations, and the community at large
  • Develop and implement a plan for sponsorship for Chapter Dinner meetings, outreach events and the PD conference
  • Market and publicize chapter sponsorship within the local business community and organizations interested in the activities of PMI
  • Develop an awareness of PMI’s sponsorship options/models
  • Collaborate with local businesses to create mutually beneficial/reciprocal sponsorship agreements the chapter and PMI
  • Oversee the relationship with the press and relationships with the public authorities, government bodies and non-governmental organizations as they relate to sponsorship
  • Maintain relationships with sponsors for revenue generation to fund the chapter’s activities
  • Coordinate and organize presentations to potential chapter sponsors, event sponsors and other sponsors
  • Develop and implement succession and transition plans for Sponsorship Director role
  • Create and implement an annual portfolio Action Plan that aligns with PMI and PMI-VI strategic plans, and the PMI-VI mission and vision
  • Attend PMI-VI Board Meetings with a status update with no more than 3 absences within a one year period
  • Professionally respond to all inquiries to the PMI-VI Director of Sponsorship e-mail account

Length of Appointment

  • A 2 year commitment

Time Commitment

Approximately 15-20 hours per month

  • Attend monthly Board meetings
  • Attend five dinner meetings per year
  • Execute responsibilities of position and other related duties

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to network and create relationships with decision makers
  • Ability to lead volunteers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • PMI and PMI-VI Chapter member in good standing.
  • PMP or other advanced PMI designation
  • Understand how the position contributes to the component strategic plan and its alignment to PMI through PMI-VI
  • Knowledge of PMI Component Leadership site an asset
  • Knowledge of Google Apps
  • Understand the value of PMI and volunteering
