Project Management is Leadership Victoria: Using project management for the Comunity 

Leadership Victoria is a community-based, voluntary organization committed to developing, recognizing and honouring outstanding community leaders in building a vibrant community. Since 2000, they have become the go-to organization for community leadership development in Greater Victoria. As volunteer board members, coaches, mentors, facilitators and program partners, they put their collective skills and expertise to work to develop Victoria’s emerging generation of leaders.

Since its inception, Leadership Victoria has graduated over 280 participants who have completed nearly 50 community action projects, leaving a tangible legacy in our community.

Speakers Bio:

Susan Low, Leadership Victoria Executive Director

Susan Low Susan joined Leadership Victoria in the spring of 2015. Born and raised in Victoria, Susan draws from her experience as an entrepreneur and a community developer to bring strategic thinking, financial expertise and a spirit of discovery to Leadership Victoria. For ten years, Susan was the founder and principal consultant of Directis Consulting Group which offered business consulting and non-profit organization management consulting in Victoria and Vancouver, BC. Susan created the Financial Empowerment Resources Network while working as a Community Developer at the Community Social Planning Council of Greater Victoria from 2013-15. She is an elected councillor with the Township of Esquimalt.

 

Susan holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Arts (English/Professional Writing) from the University of Victoria. In addition to her many community and civic activities, Susan is an avid seamstress and rower. She lives in Esquimalt with her husband, son, and two feline commanders.

Team Bellatonia, DiverCity Victoria Video project:

Team Bellatonia used video to create a diversity awareness project titled “DiverCity Victoria”, in order to enhance understanding and inclusivity in our community. The project aims to help us to recognize, tackle and address our own biases, therefore promoting a more diverse and inclusive society based on mutual understanding and improved meaningful connections between people. by Lori Elder, retrieved from leadershipvictoria.ca.

Andy Robertson, Digital Media Producer

Andy Robertson Andy Robertson is a filmmaker and communications strategist living on Canada’s west coast. With fifteen years of experience as a digital media producer, Andy is passionate about communicating important social issues and scientific discovery to new audiences, while exploring new tools of communication and efficiencies in production workflow. His goal is to create impact and awareness through story in an evolving medium: a film, a website, or a comprehensive digital media campaign. Most recently Andy was the Production Manager and Post Production Supervisor for a Telus funded series called Spiral which airs on Telus Optik 4K September 2017
