Join us as a back-up instructor of the PMI-VI exam prep course that has helped hundreds of project management practitioners over the last 10 years. As a PMP, you know the effort and commitment it took for you to pass the exam and earn your designation! You are also proud of your work as a project management practitioner.
What do you have to do?

Volunteer to be a back-up for the instruction of a specific session of the exam prep course. A session is approximately 4 hours long, either a Saturday morning or afternoon

Review PMOBK v5, and the instructional material that has already been prepared; you will need to go through it carefully and become very familiar with it

Meet with your Project Sponsor and Project Manager and other like-minded Instructors. There is a mandatory Kick-off meeting, followed by several training sessions where you will become familiar with the curriculum design and session format.
What do you need?

Your PMP designation, and be a PMI and PMI-VI member in good standing

You are an excellent communicator – your verbal delivery is strong and clear, and you are comfortable engaging with adult learners

Preparation time to review material and PMBOK v5 for your instructional session. Expect to spend approximately 20 hours

Practice time to hone your skills of instructional delivery, and guide candidates in understanding exam questions and how to determine the best answer; 10 hours

Attendance at the session (4 hours). It is advisable to attend other sessions prior to yours as well
What do you receive?
You can claim PDUs – up to 45 in a 3-year certification cycle for the category of Giving Back to the Profession. Beyond PDUs, you get to be part of a prestigious program on Vancouver Island that helps project managers successfully write the PMP or CAPM exam. You also get to make new friends and contacts among like-minded professionals!
Course Curriculum

PMI Code of Ethics. This mandatory code is taught at the start of the course, as it infuses all project management behaviour. Exam questions can include references to Code of Ethics throughout all of the knowledge areas.

Introduction. This session introduces PMBOK’s project management framework of processes and the Standard of Project Management.

Initiating Process Group or Domain. This session covers the start of a project

Planning Process Group or Domain. Through several sessions, all aspects of planning a project are covered. All knowledge areas are covered.

Executing Process Group or Domain. All aspects of executing the project are covered.

Monitoring and Controlling Process Group or Domain. All aspects of monitoring and controlling the project are covered.

Closing Process Group or Domain. This session covers the final closing of a project.

Review. This session wraps-up the exam prep course with an in-class 1 hour practice exam. Candidates are given information about exam locations and what to expect. Instructional content is based on topics that candidates want to review in-detail.
Throughout each instructional session, sample exam questions are asked that allow instructors to guide the candidates through the methodology of understanding the question and determining the best answer. As you well know from your experience, this is the most powerful method of testing one’s understanding for writing a successful exam.
Back-up Instructors are needed for every session.
How to apply
Send a note to ceps@pmivi.org explaining your experience with project management and your experience with instructing, facilitating or presenting to adult learners in a professional environment. Explain your interest in one of the sessions as outlined in the course curriculum. A resume is not needed, although you are advised to be as fulsome as possible in explaining your experience and area of interest.
Due date for applications is July 15, 2013, midnight.
Selected instructors will be notified by July 29, 2013.
